(Aluminium Hydroxide Gel, Dried 250mg, Mg(OH) 2 ? 250mg, Activated Dimethicone 50mg/10)
CI: Hypophosphataemia, acute porphyria. SP: Patient w/ restricted phosphate intake, low Na diet, uraemia, heart failure, oedema, recent GI haemorrhage. Hepatic (e.g. cirrhosis) & renal (e.g. chronic renal failure) impairment. Pregnancy. Patient Counselling Avoid application over deep & puncture wounds, infected areas, or lacerations. Monitoring Parameters Monitor serum Ca & phosphate levels regularly when patient is on chronic therapy. INT: May interfere w/ the absorption of some drugs including tetracyclines, penicillin, sulfonamides, Fe, digoxin, indometacin, naproxen, phenylbutazone, quinidine & vit. Absorption is enhanced by citrates or ascorbic acid. ADR: Constipation, intestinal obstruction, faecal discolouration & impaction, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps; hypomagnesaemia, hypophosphataemia.
